FASHION: DID U KNOW?

DID YOU KNOW? (HISTORY OF FASHION)
1960s, the birth of boutiques. Before this, fashion/clothing was mostly dull and suitable for the older market. Then designers/retailers started opening up small shops that specialized only in youthful fashion. YES! Boutiques started out as small shops, selling cheap and colorful clothing for the youth.

EKAS'LAM 1852: ENTERTAINMENT

EKAS’LAM 1852: ENTERTAINMENT

KAY E: In the studio

Yesterday I walk in to studio and guess who I ran in to... Kay E the man himself in the booth. I had a sneak preview on what his busy on, one track in particular, featuring one of the dopest 1852 vocalist, no, I will not mention his name wouldn't want to spoil this surprise all I can say is they on the hustle(singing). This is sure to be an industry banger, straight up and down like six o'clock. BIG UPS to my hood.

We had a chat with Cyrus the Virus about his next move.

Team agent: Is there something bubbling under for Cyrus?
Cyrus: LOL... Well I'm looking in to going back to studio to record a single which is still untitled, we still working on those logistics... I'm also working hard preparing for live shows; I believe that is the key element in artistry. There is also a video pending, of which I won't go into much detail about. I want it to hit the industry like blaaaaaaaaw!!!, so watch the space.
Team agent: O.K, but at least do tell if it is a new track or one of our favorites?
Cyrus: No’p I am not gonna tell, it is a surprised... Wait for it...
Team agent: So, the current album is dope, how do the masses get hold of it?
Cyrus: Simple really if you've got Internet access, you can get most of the tracks from the album for free on downloads. Primarily on www.reverbnation.com search for ocyrus, alternatively you can go to www.soundcloud.com also search for o’cyrus. For those seeking a hard copy of the full length album, for now the easiest way is ordering via email on phumelelez@yahoo.com or zphumelele@gmail.com and mokhomolel@yahoo.com.
Team agent: So on this new single, what can we expect that is different?
Cyrus: NOTHING... LOL. Nah just kidding, what I can promise you is that artistically I'm on another level of creativity and the production is banging yal!

Team agent: Aight then we'll look out for that... Don't forget Team Efforts on your video shoot call us up, yeah. God speed on everything you do homie.... 1852...

SHOT’S FIRED

It’s exciting times for hip hop heads, since the beef between Tupac and Biggie, R.I.P to them.  Canibus taking shots at J.Cole in fact Canibus don’t just take few shots; he brings the whole army of lyrics just to murder him. Personally I like J.Cole but when canibus called him “J.Clone”, that was it for me. At first I thought typical Canibus, and then heard J.Cole was actually dissed for giving props to him. Even though Canibus apologised afterwards, he did an interview with the website ‘HIP HOP DX’ expressing his anger or more like disappointment towards his “fan” J.Cole. In the article he starts off by saying that “Cole hasn't properly been "paying homage" despite naming him as an influence.” He goes on to express “Jay-Z protégé bigs him up in interviews as one of his favourite rappers and plays his older material, but then says that because Cole doesn't support his more recent material.” Does that mean J.Cole was only flattering one of the greatest lyricsist in the game. This is the Canibus take on the whole situation “by him playing my older material owned by my former label dating back to 1998, subsequently overlooking my current works and contributions which directly benefit me now, he is treating me less like an artist that has, and continues to contribute, influence, and inspire an even younger generation of MC’s coming up, and more like an artist that has physically passed on already”. Hmmmm, all I got to say is J.Cole, think before you mention names and who that name belongs to. Let’s continue to pay homage to people that paved the way for us in respect of who they are today. Once again hip hop calls for us to pay ultimate respect to each other. Big up’s to Canibus, not for dissing J.Cole, but for making sure that a battle brings across such issues that affect us, that is a true veteran move.

THE FOUNDER

Cyrus is the co-founder of Dungeon Shack together with DJ Flexxx. Together they had a vision and the love to start a movement that would introduce the Hip-Hop culture to their own neighborhood. The movement started between the two of them and quickly grew its particpants and developed into a rap session where veteran rappers and up and coming rappers met to entertain the community and exchange ideas. The idea of sessions was already begining to be alive all over Soweto with the forming of Slaghuis which was based in diepkloof, Black Sunday also based in diepkloof, Graveside based in Dobsonville, Splash Jam based in Orlando, 1808 based in pimpville and D Shack operated in Meadowlands. These were called the Sunday session interchanging with each other every weekend.
